The SkyRun Team

Barry Cox, CEO

Barry Cox
CEO and Co-Founder

Mr. Cox co-founded SkyRun Vacation Rentals in 2004 after purchasing a 2nd home and not finding any acceptable options for renting.  Mr. Cox became SkyRun's CEO in 2010 after co-founding our initial location in Keystone Colorado with Steve Falk which they grew to 100 properties and $2M in revenue in 3 years.

Prior to SkyRun, Barry had a 22 year carrer with IBM.  Barry led a 140-person team of consultants in IBM's Global Services division specializing in creating website portals and content management systems for private and public sector clients throught the United States.  Mr. Cox grew the team from 70 to 140 and to $150M of annual billable revenue.

Barry also held roles as the global practice executive for software value assessments where he and his team worked with clients around the world to develop detailed business cases for their software projects to align their purchases to their business goals.  This role took Mr. Cox around the world consulting with large businesses globally.  Mr. Cox and his team also developed the methodology for business value assessment (BVA) that IBM uses in it's software division with important clients and developed training and taught sales reps worldwide in the application of using business value to justify and sell software.  At IBM, Barry developed the skills he uses repeatedly in his current role leading SkyRun as a technology-focused Vacation Rental Company.

Barry lives in the mountains West of Boulder, CO with his wife of 30 years and has 2 children 17 (daughter in high school) and 21 (son at CU).  He loves the mountain lifestyle and skis and hikes literally out his back door.  He also plays banjo and is always on the lookout for a new banjo joke he hasn't yet heard. And if there is a new piece of technology out there, he has it and is trying to figure out how to rent vacation rentals using it.
